AlwaysCare Benefits Inc. announced today it is extending dental benefits to cover oral cancer screenings, and prenatal and diabetic dental cleaning. The new features are available at minimal or no extra cost to members.
|Members with risk factors for oral cancer are eligible for one adjunctive, pre-diagnostic test per year. Under the prenatal enhancement women who are in their second or third trimester of pregnancy will be eligible for an additional cleaning; according to the American Academy of Periodontology, pregnant women with periodontal disease may be seven times more likely to have premature or low-birth-weight babies.
|Employers can now offer incremental diabetes-related benefits; employees who have been diagnosed with both diabetes and periodontal disease will be eligible for up to two additional cleanings in a 12-month period.
