CALABASAS, Calif. – Portals are fading in CU land, but that's not stopping all CUs from getting involved. The $700 million SEFCU, Albany, N.Y., has launched a new e-commerce portal that is powered by Digital Insight's AXIS eCommerce Portal. It includes transaction-based services such as online brokerage, car buying, and Internet banking. There's also more "lifestyle" services on the portal, such as vacation planning and even ticket buying capabilities. The CU is using DI's AXIS Advanced Target Marketing service. Advanced Target Marketing is basically an online target marketing service that allows CUs to promote products and services to members based on their needs and relationships with the CU. SEFCU's site is already well-traveled. It nets about 70,000 unique users per month. "Given the extremely high volume of traffic on our previous site, it became apparent to us that more and more individuals were embracing the use of the Internet for information and banking needs," said SEFCU COO Michael Castellana. "Our enhanced offerings provide the kinds of services which we simply can't provide at every branch, but are of real interest to our members and the general public." A financial Lifestyle Solutions section offers a portfolio tracking solution, headline news, local weather and street maps. "More than 20,000 of our members now bank online with us," said Castellana. SEFCU serves 100,000 members.
