Waterloo, Iowa – John Deere Community Credit Union has awarded four Cedar Valley organizations funding for special culturally diverse programs through the Diversity Alliance and Cultural Alliance for Youth Grant programs. The grants are awarded to those organizations whose programs celebrate cultural and social diversity for youth in Black Hawk, Buchanan, Bremer, and Fayette counties. This year's recipient is the UNI museum for the "Traveling Trunks" project, which offers information and activities relating to the history and culture of Bosinia, Japan and Mexico. The three organizations selected for the Diversity Alliance awards include Area Education Agency 7 for its diversity programming in area high schools; Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center for the "Through the Eyes of a Friend, the Story of Anne Frank" program; and YWCA of Black Hawk County for "Carnaval Latino".
