NEW HAVEN, Conn. – St. Raphael Healthcare CU, the tenth largest state-chartered credit union in Connecticut as of Dec. 31, 2000, was approved by the Office of the Banking Commissioner to amend its bylaws and expand its field of membership to consist of all persons who live or work in New Haven County. The credit union also was approved to change its name to New Haven County Credit Union. St. Raphael Healthcare CU has $16 million in assets and about 6,200 members. Based on July 1999 census statistics, the population of New Haven County was 793,208.
