Readers who haven't checked out the Credit Union Times Web site lately, are in for a pleasant surprise. cutimes.com (re-named "daily independent report on credit unions") has been completely revamped from log-on to log-off. Not only is our Web site now easier to read (large, clean typefaces and modern design) and to navigate (especially for computers utilizing Internet Explorer), but the entire focus of it is now on providing important credit union news in a timely fashion. The other stuff (meetings list, polls, contact information, archive data, advertising and subscription information, etc.) is still there, but it now takes a back seat to the dissemination of news. What you won't find is any Web advertising, even though it was a nice source of additional income for us. Visitors will not need to wade through the multitude of banner ads, sponsorships, and related advertising and promotional widgets dominating other CU sites to get to the news. Getting short, well-written, late-breaking news items on the Net that are of interest to credit unions as quickly as possible is more important to us than making a buck on ads. We think once you take a look at our redesigned site you'll agree cutimes.com is in a class by itself. Speaking of redesign, kudos to our multi-talented production manager Mike Reinhardt who somehow found time from producing our growing weekly issues to work with our editorial staff and handle this entire project for us in record time.
