HARRISBURG, Pa. – The $1.6 billion Pennsylvania State Employees CU, which offers its members a myriad of online services, has joined the TRUSTe privacy program. PSECU will display the TRUSTe seal on its Web site (www.psecu.com). Members who click on the seal will be linked to PSECU's privacy statement, which outlines PSECU's privacy and security policies. The seal is designed to be a symbol that signifies the site has a privacy policy and that its data gathering and dissemination practices are in line with the FTC's fair information practices. "PSECU needs to take every possible measure to ensure member privacy and security," said PSECU President/CEO Greg Smith. Among other things, in order to qualify for TRUSTe, licensees must offer the users the option to opt-in or opt-out of any secondary uses of their personal information; and provide users with access to their personal information to correct inaccuracies. TRUSTe's seal is on about 2,000 Web sites worldwide. TRUSTe is an independent organization that is focused on building consumer trust on the Web. Participating companies include America Online, Intel, Intuit and Microsoft.
