BOCA RATON, Fla. – Members Insurance Services, LLC, an independent insurance agency owned by IBM Southeast Employees' FCU, who spearheaded its formation, and five other credit unions, has recently celebrated its first anniversary. Since opening its doors last year, several credit unions have joined the $450 million credit union including: Waycross, Georgia-based Atlantic Coast FCU; Tampa, Florida-based Bay Gulf FCU; Tampa Bay FCU; Rockledge, Florida-based Community Educators CU of Brevard County; and Sarasota Coastal CU. "Many other credit unions are calling to see if they can join with us to offer their members this benefit," said IBM Southeast EFCU Executive Vice President Barry Hughes. "So far we are writing insurance in 19 states and we will continue to add states as requests come in." To keep costs to a minimum, all dealings with MIS are conducted via telephone, fax or the Internet. Currently, more than a quarter-million members have access to more than 12 nationally recognized insurance providers that offer comprehensive auto, homeowners, boat and other personal insurance options through MIS.
