ST. LOUIS – A Maritz Research Corp. telephone survey finds that only 4.4% of respondents use Internet banking to conduct a financial transaction. In terms of popularity, physical branches are still the reigning champions with 47.2% of respondents choosing that delivery channel; followed by ATMs at 18%. The finding suggests that consumers are using Internet-based banking sites mainly for retrieving information about their accounts and conducting infrequent transactions, such as transferring funds but 40% still prefer to conduct transactions the old-fashioned way -in person. The telephone poll featured responses from 1,005 randomly selected adults from throughout the United States.
