Paul Gentile's articles on aggregation (CU Times, Aug. 29) were excellent. Our credit union's aggregation service will also be "powered by Yodlee" and work very much like T.Rowe Price's site for this service as mentioned in the story. Gentile was able to attain his IBM SEFCU credit union data due to the fact we have been working with Yodlee for sometime now (through a group of credit unions), preparing / testing data. We still have some issues to resolve as the article highlighted. It is my understanding that Yodlee will take the "Strong" account request and prioritize that account based on how many others have requested that institution, and/or will attempt to work directly with Strong, again only if sufficient interest is established. It could be weeks or even months, or longer for that to happen. That is a weak point to the process. I feel aggregation is several years away from main stream, however I feel it is an area we must get our feet wet, before we start to swim. Where is aggregation headed? It may quick become an online version of Quicken/MS Money (without data entry processes); have the ability to transfer money between institutions (as easy as between accounts at the same institution); have the ability to have your tax/financial advisor view your personal information real time; feature instant notifications of self defined events; and on and on.
