INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. – Another credit union has entered the insurance realm by purchasing an existing insurance agency. The $46 million Boise Employees Federal Credit Union has purchased Brekke Insurance Agency and renamed it Members-Plus, LLC. "We wanted to offer even more financial products to our members," said BEFCU President/CEO Dale Johnson. "It was a great opportunity to continue such a successful business in our community." The second floor of the credit union will house the new business, which will handle auto, health, home, life and commercial insurance. Members-Plus plans to target both members and non-members in a large region of the St. Paul, Minnesota area. Jerome Brekke, two of his agents Fran Lassila and Betsy Howell, will still be a part of the agency and are joined by Agent Vickie Hasbargen and Members-Plus Manager Kristy Wagner. According to Wagner, member response during the first week in business has been slow but steady. A grand opening ceremony will be held on October 11.
