WASHINGTON – Housing permits were down 3% in September, but the National Association of Home Builders is saying that is still better than it expected in the aftermath of September 11′s terrorist attacks. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the construction of new housing units rose 1.7% in September to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.574 million.
