WASHINGTON-Last week, Congress approved a continuing resolution to keep the federal government running through December 7. They were originally supposed to recess at the beginning of October. Lawmakers still need to address five of the 13 appropriations bills before they can recess for the session, including the Foreign Operations Appropriations legislation, which includes funding for World Council of Credit Union projects in Mexico and South Africa. Three appropriations bills, including the Veteran's Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, and Independent Agency's (VA-HUD) bill, are simply awaiting the president's signature. The VA-HUD bill includes a borrowing cap of $1.5 billion for the Central Liquidity Facility, $80 million in appropriations for the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, and a $1 million grant for the Community Development Revolving Loan Fund. Five other appropriations bills have been signed into law.
