MADISON, Wis. – CUNA Mutual Group recently made two senior-level appointments. Larry Blanchard has been named Senior Vice President of Legislative and Corporate Affairs. Blanchard was formerly SVP of Corporate Communications. Blanchard will take on more of a lobbying role, representing CUNA Mutual Group's corporate relationships with organizations in the nation's insurance, credit union, consumer and business communities, according to CUNA Mutual. The position will require him to spend more time in Washington, D.C. Blanchard has a history on the lobbying front. He led the Credit Union Campaign for Consumer Choice campaign, which resulted in the passage of H.R. 1151. Jon Nelson has been named SVP of Communications and Public Affairs. Nelson most recently served as director of Global Communications and Public Affairs for the Integrated Electronic Systems Sector of Motorola. Prior to that he was the principal partner in Nelson Associates, a marketing and communications consulting firm. Nelson is responsible for internal and external communications at CUNA Mutual, including public relations, publications, audio-visual, employee communications, marketing, and Web-related activity.
