WASHINGTON-Last week, NCUA Board nominee, Iowa State Senator JoAnn Johnson met with several Senators who serve on the committee that will be considering her nomination. Johnson's official nomination was sent to the Senate November 27, after President George W. Bush announced his intention to nominate her September 14. The nomination has been referred to the Senate Banking Committee. Johnson has served as an Iowa state senator since 1994. She is currently the chair of the Commerce Committee and was formerly the chair of the Ways and Means Committee from 1996 to 2000. She is a former teacher and family farmer.
