NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Matadors FCU, chartered in 1963 to serve the faculty, staff, students and alumni of California State University Northridge, is now called Matadors Community Credit Union.

The new name reflects the $70 million credit union's new state charter which allows it to serve anyone who lives, works or worships in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Simi Valley, including an additional 27 Southern California communities Matadors couldn't previously serve under a federal charter.

Since Matadors charter conversion last October, the credit union's loan volume increased 46% and its new membership grew 11.9% faster than the previous nine months.
