<p>JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Cole County Circuit Court Judge Byron Kinder heard oral arguments January 3 on the ongoing field-of-membership expansion challenge brought by the Missouri Bankers Association against Springfield Telephone Employees CU. STECU asked the Court to dismiss the bankers' appeal of the state Credit Union Commission's decision last year that upheld Director John Smith's approval of the credit union's application to expand its FOM. The credit union argued that the appeal should be dismissed due to lack of standing since banks are not regulated by the Division of Credit Unions. The Missouri Credit Union League said the judge took everything into consideration and was expected to issue a decision within two weeks.</p>
