VERNON HILLS, Ill. – Baxter Credit Union has raised a total of $338,150.44 through the Baxter Relief Fund to benefit September 11 disaster relief efforts. Working with Baxter Healthcare CEO Harry Kraemer and the Baxter Executive Management Team, the fund was established shortly after the terrorist attacks this past September. BCU donated $5,000. From that point, each dollar donated to the fund resulted in a total donation of $3 thanks to a matching program from BCU and the Baxter International Foundation. "The outpouring of support from Baxter team members around the world was amazing," said Kraemer. "We realize our efforts can not begin to replace the loss so many have suffered, but we hope it will help to ensure the continued work of organizations providing direct and ongoing support to those in need." Funds have been distributed among five organizations that provide aid to those with mental and physical health-care needs. Many of the following organizations selected did not receive an abundance of donations from others: New York- The United Neighborhood House, The Association to Benefit Children, New York Community Trust; Washington D.C.- Bachus, Ketchum and Leckie Schools in the District of Columbia; and Somerset, Pennsylvania- the Salvation Army.
