The National Business Group on Health, a national non-profit organization of large employers, honored Unum and Fiserv Inc. yesterday with the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles Gold award. NBGH has offered this award for four years to recognize employers who work to improve health, productivity and quality of life for their employees.
Fiserv earned recognition with it's comprehensive wellness program, launched in 2003.
"We are continually looking for better ways to promote lifestyles that help employees improve their health," says Wendy Salmon, Fiserv vice president of compensation and benefits. "The promotion and support of a healthy lifestyle provides our employees the opportunity to be happier and more productive both inside and outside of the workplace, which in turn, provides us with a return on our investment."

Unum's wellness program includes resources to educate employees and promote wellness and risk-management. Some resources include: health resource centers at Unum's four home offices that provide health coaching and wellness services, as well as nurses to provide health screenings and flu or allergy shots; a personalized and confidential health report, provided through a partnership with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield; a comprehensive communications strategy to educate employees; on-site fitness facilities and healthy food choices in cafeterias and vending machines.
