Had our own annual voluntary enrollment here at the office late last week.

And while I'm not necessarily a big fan of this particular carrier (not that anyone asked me), this enroller (who I'm sure was a broker in disguise, but more on that in a sec) did our better job of engaging our small band of would-be insureds (of course, I don't get out much).

She might have veered a little too close to Kleenex territory a bit much for my taste with her salesy anecdotes of employee tragedy and loss, but I'm tad more jaded than most. I mean, I feed parking meters on Sundays and quiz my daughter for motives with every kiss and hug.

She did all right, though. The broker, I mean. But, again, my experience has been a bit anemic. I'm used to dry lectures, bad jokes told poorly and what amounts to story time for grown-ups as enrollers come in and just read through the literature. So when anyone comes in with an ounce of energy (or originality) its almost startling.

It's funny, for all the effort brokers exert in securing groups, you'd think more effort would be put into the group itself.

Maybe its just me.
