New research from Bensinger, DuPont & Associates shows employee assistance programs increase productivity. Eighty-three percent of survey respondents said their productivity improved after utilizing an EAP.

"The purpose of an EAP is to drive employee productivity, and these findings clearly show that employees believe EAPs fulfill this goal," says Marie Apke, chief operating officer of Bensinger, Dupont & Associates.

BDA's findings are supported by a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association which found a systematic approach for treating depression in employees resulted in improved health, higher job retention, fewer absences and increased productivity.
