Looks like employers will get another lump of coal in their stockings this year.
As we look to wrap up 2008 — and, honestly, can any of us get out of this year fast enough? — a new survey reveals that 42 percent of employers expect their health care costs to climb more than 10 percent next year. The numbers stem from fresh HR.BLR.com and Compensation.BLR.com surveys.
On the flip side, about the same number of employers expect little (less than 10 percent) to no jump in health care costs. Bet you won't see that stat if this story makes tomorrow's paper.

But what's encouraging, even as jobs cuts pour in daily now, is that only 7 percent of employers plan to actually slash benefits. Most plan to share costs increases with employees in the form of higher premiums or increased co-pays.
