Members of Congress recently received a copy of the UBA 2009 Health Plan Survey from United Benefit Advisors (UBA) and the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), so they don't overlook the importance of including benefits professionals in health care reform legislation.
UBA and NAHU delivered educational material to Capitol Hill as a reference on how professional insurance brokers "make health coverage more affordable," according to the organizations.
"We trust members of Congress and their staff will find the information presented to be as valuable as employers do in making informed health care plan decisions as they thoughtfully develop health care reform legislation," said Janet Trautwein, CEO of NAHU.
UBA member firms saved clients more than $1.4 billion in 2008 in annual medical plan costs.
"Each year, brokers and agents help millions of Americans select the best health care plan to fit their needs, allowing employers and families to save money and access the best medical services available," Trautwein added.
