Older adults: Out of work, out of luck

The unemployment rate for workers 55 and older is 7.1 percent.

The unemployment rate for workers 55 and older is 7.1 percent.
Older workers spend an average of 36 weeks out of work.
On average, 51.4 percent of older workers spend 27 weeks or longer out of work.
Of unemployed older workers, 199,000 got discouraged and gave up looking for jobs.
