Mail-order program lowers costs to diabetes patients

Diabetes patients who used a mail-order program to receive their prescriptions had an 84.8 percent adherence rate, compared with 63.4 percent for people who used a retail pharmacy.

Diabetes patients who used a mail-order program to receive their prescriptions had an 84.8 percent adherence rate, compared with 63.4 percent for people who used a retail pharmacy.
Monthly health care costs were $34.32 lower for diabetes patients using a mail order program.
On average, diabetes-related medical costs were $19.14 lower for patients using a mail order program; total medical costs were $37.54 lower.
Pharmacy costs for diabetes patients in the mail order group were $14.13 higher.
