The LIFE Foundation is sponsoring Disability Insurance Awareness Month in May to encourage workers to take action to protect their paychecks in the event of a disability.
"This year, our goal is to move the disability insurance conversation away from negative thoughts about disabling illnesses and injuries and toward a positive topic everyone can relate to: their paycheck," Marvin Feldman, CLU, ChFC, RFC, president and CEO of the LIFE Foundation, said in a press release.
According to a survey by the Foundation, half of working Americans have less than one month's savings set aside to get them through a disability, and one-quarter would encounter financial difficulties immediately.
