America's Health Insurance Plans' President and CEO Karen Ignagni says public discussion on health care costs has focused mainly on health insurance premiums while ignoring the real roots, including "soaring medical prices, new benefit mandates and changes to health plans' risk pools."
"At a time when health care costs are a crushing burden on families and employers, the American people deserve to know the facts," Ignagni said, following the Department of Health and Human Services' release of health reform proposals that will require health insurance companies to disclose and justify "unreasonable" rate hikes.
