There is an apparent communication disconnect between employers and employees when it comes to benefit satisfaction and preferences, according to a survey conducted by HR Daily Advisor/Business & Legal Resources.
The survey, which polled close to 1,000 HR Daily Advisor readers, pointed out that 68 percent of employers don’t survey employees about their satisfaction with benefits. Additionally, 74 percent of employers polled don’t formally survey employees about the latter’s benefit preferences, and only 56 percent said they provide an overview to employees demonstrating benefit costs to the company.
On the other side of the coin, 78 percent of those asked believe their employees to be “either very happy or somewhat happy” with their benefits.
The apparent lack of communication is a concern to HR Daily Advisor Editor Stephen Bruce.
“Benefits communication is especially critical these days,” he commented in a press release. “With little going on in the raise department, employers need to be sure that employees truly appreciate the cost of the benefits they’re getting. This survey highlights some important trends for HR professionals to consider as they continue to reassess their benefits policies.
