SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Consumer advocacy groups are airing radio advertisements to bring public pressure on Gov. Susana Martinez to sign legislation for stricter review of health insurance rate increases.

Martinez spokesman Scott Darnell said Wednesday the governor hasn't decided whether to sign the bill into law.

Health Action New Mexico and Consumers Union, which publishes Consumer Reports magazine, said their ads started over the weekend on radio stations in Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Santa Fe.

The ads ask people to call the governor's office and urge Martinez to sign the legislation.

The bill establishes a higher standard for regulatory review of rate increases proposed by health insurers. The measure also provides for notices to policyholders and posting of rate information on a government website.
