ARIZONA-When the Managed Care Executive Group met last week and discussed the top 10 issues that health plans will face in 2011. The forum, in its 22nd year, focused on health care retail, technology, payment reform — and its top-10 list.
The Managed Care Executive Group, consisting of U.S. senior health plan executives, polled its membership for the top 10 issues impacting this year’s plans. The issues were
1) administrative mandates
2) care management, data analytics and informatics
3) health insurance exchanges and individual markets
4) new provider payment and delivery systems
5) “bend the cost” trends
6) Medicare and Medicaid
7) Health information exchanges and EMRs
8) Consumers’ roles in healthcare modernization
9) Reform uncertainties
10) Payer/provider interoperability
According to MCEG outgoing chairperson Alan Abramson, this year’s list is different from that in 2010. At that time, the list focused on the role of government in health care.
