Health insurer Humana Inc. said Tuesday that it will start offering a 25-cent quarterly cash dividend, its first since 1993.

GROWING FORECAST: The company also said it will report on Monday first-quarter earnings per share of $1.86, up from previous guidance of $1.15 to $1.20 per share and much higher than Wall Street expectations. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect, on average, earnings per share of $1.26 for the first quarter.

BIGGER BUYBACK: The insurer's board also is replacing its share repurchase authorization of up to $250 million with an authorization for repurchases of up to $1 billion.
