WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 14,000 workers at the newly merged United and Continental airlines will start voting July 7 on whether to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union.

The National Mediation Board said Monday that the vote — open to 14,300 ramp and fleet service workers — will take five weeks and results will be announced Aug. 11.

United and Continental merged to become United Continental Holdings Inc. but are still working to combine their operations.
