Mutual Health Services is implementing technology so employers can help better understand health costs.

The health insurer just implemented Web-based data integration, analysis and reporting technology from Benefit Informatics, a Benefitfocus company, to consolidate multiple data sources into one data warehouse and enhance client reporting. Utilizing Benefit Informatics' software as a service technology, Mutual Health Services can streamline analysis of health plan utilization, identify cost drivers and automate reporting.

"We can provide our clients immediate access to plan utilization and we have the flexibility to drill-down into specific diagnosis, procedure or provider," says Mutual Health Services Vice President Douglas Kuczynski. "The software is very user-friendly and gives us the flexibility to provide our clients the data they need, when they need it."

Custom filtering provides access to specific information, including claim, eligibility, wellness, disease management, stop-loss and other aspects. The flexible system can incorporate additional elements to provide employers a complete picture of their health care costs, compare plan performance to industry benchmarks and view trends in utilization.
