HSA Clearing Corp is presenting a webinar called "Taking HSAs to the Next Level" Thursday, July 14 at 4:40 p.m. ET.

Congressman Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Roy Ramthun, who led the U.S. Treasury Department's implementation of the HSA program after its creation in 2003 before becoming the senior health policy advisor to President George W. Bush, will be on hand to talk about the future of HSAs. Paulsen has introduced the Family and Retirement Health Investment Act of 2011 (H.R.2010) which expands and clarifies how HSAs work. Ramthun currently has his own consulting practice focused on promoting HSAs and consumer-driven health care.

Paulsen and Ramthun will discuss the provisions of H.R.2010 as well as the future of HSAs under the health reform law, including how the law might be changed. For example, legislation is pending that would address the minimum medical loss ratio (MLR) requirements, which have caused many insurance agents and brokers' commissions from health insurers to drop by as much as 50 percent since the implementation of the standards.
