WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker John Boehner says an estimate from congressional budget analysts shows the revised House Republican plan cuts the deficit by $22 billion in the first year.
Boehner said in a statement that the new numbers from the Congressional Budget Office released Wednesday indicate the bill cuts and caps spending by $917 billion over 10 years. That's more than the $900 billion increase in the nation's borrowing authority in the legislation.
Boehner is pushing for a vote on the bill on Thursday as rank-and-file conservatives have slowly coalesced behind the legislation.
