Call centers bring jobs back to US

A coalition largely made up of call center companies is planning to hire 100,000 new employees in the U.S. over the next two years thanks to advancements in broadband access, with some of the jobs returning from overseas, the Federal Communications Commission chairman said.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A coalition largely made up of call center companies is planning to hire 100,000 new employees in the U.S. over the next two years thanks to advancements in broadband access, with some of the jobs returning from overseas, the Federal Communications Commission chairman said.

“It’s our hope that this is not going to be a one-time thing, but that this is part of a virtuous cycle of job creation and demand generation that will lead to more job creation,” FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski (top) said in a telephone interview Wednesday.
