A solid majority of Iowa voters (56 percent) oppose the president's health care reform plan – an unfavorable statistic with election season just around the corner.
A new poll of Iowa voters commissioned by the American Action Network underscored the unpopularity of the health care plan. Only 27 percent of Iowa independents favoring the plan and 65 percent opposing it. Amongst seniors, 52 percent disapprove and only 36 percent approve.
"Iowa voters are not only dissatisfied with the president's leadership, but also strongly opposed to his key policy initiative," said Brian Walsh, president of the 501(c)(4) 'action tank' American Action Network. "This survey shows that the voter opposition to the president's health care reform legislation remains strong, that voters oppose execution of key elements of the bill, and that the Medicaid-style price controls being proposed by liberals in Congress are deeply unfavorable to Iowa's seniors."
