Do you know what's going on at the office? Or at least with your workers?

Rather than relying on assumptions and old news, it's not a bad idea to not only do your homework, but to actually get in the trenches and communicate with the rank-and-file.

Case in point: A new CareerBuilder study just dropped that boasted some surprisingly sunny news in an otherwise cloudy summer (Well, surprising to me, anyway.)

Seems that the number of workers living paycheck-to-paycheck has actually dropped to 42 percent – down only point from 43 percent last year, but we've got to take what we can get, right?

More importantly, the survey found that the number of employees skipped paying one bill or another each month dropped to 20 percent, a definite improvement over last year.

So, things might still not be great, but they're getting better.

But employees still need help, or at least advice. Consider this: the only financial advice most of your employees will ever receive will be at the workplace, whether it's from your broker or you. And since this same survey also reveals 55 percent of workers either cut the amount they're stashing in their 401(k)s or not contributing to them at all, they need that financial advice more than ever.
