BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Federal officials say they will announce a grant to help finance job training programs in Bridgeport, Conn.
Representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Federal Transit Administration and other agencies are scheduled to announce the funding Friday at the Bridgeport Housing Authority.
Federal officials say the projects will help reduce environmental risks and created jobs.

Unemployment in the Bridgeport-Stamford area was 8.5 percent in July, lower than Connecticut's 9.2 percent rate.
