U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says she's eager to work with the state to find ways to ease the financial strain of rising Medicaid costs.

Sebelius, who ended a four-day visit to Alaska Thursday, said her agency has been working with states, one-on-one, to try to find solutions that work for each. She said there are waivers and flexibility within the law — including some provisions that states aren't aware of — that they can take advantage of.

Medicaid costs have been blamed for helping drive the rise of Alaska's operating budget.
