SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The names of 110,000 retired public employees in Oregon and how much they receive in pensions will be made public next month as part of a court settlement between the state retirement system and two newspapers.
The Oregonian and The Statesman Journal demanded the records from the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System last year to shine a light on state spending.
The records were closed in 2002, but Attorney General John Kroger declared them public records. PERS sued, but later agreed to a settlement.

The newspapers reported that the settlement calls for releasing the names of retirees and their pension information Nov. 21, with more detailed information to be released March 9.
