Facebook, the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, DirectEmployers Association and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies are coming together to create the Social Jobs Partnership, which will strive to facilitate employment for America’s jobless via social media.

Social media is becoming more popular in nearly every part of the economy, including employment recruitment. In fact, according to a NACE survey, a Facebook page is used by more than 70 percent of college career centers, and a 2010 Jobvite poll finds that 92 percent of respondents have recruited or plan to recruit through social networks.
