Humana Inc. said Wednesday it has completed its acquisition of MD Care, a California-based Medicare Advantage HMO. Terms were not disclosed.
The acquisition increases Humana's Medicare Advantage membership by approximately 15,000 members in four Southern California counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside.
Humana and MD Care said there will be no interruption in coverage; members can continue to see the same health care providers and receive the same benefits they currently have.

Members who enrolled with MD Care during the 2011 Annual Election Period (for 2012 coverage) will receive the same benefits offered in the plan they selected.
Humana noted its acquisition of MD Care is not expected to materially impact its financial earnings guidance for the year ending December 31, 2012.
