Only 13 percent of IT professionals say their employers’ social media strategies are successful, according to an analysis by InformationWeek Reports, a service provider for peer-based IT research and analysis.

Although IT has the proper tools in place, the analysis finds that business-oriented social networking platforms aren’t living up to their expectations regarding better communication, collaboration and productivity. Among the respondents, 61 percent have run team or company wikis for over a year, and 29 percent implemented these systems at least three years ago while 65 percent host these systems internally.
