The U.S. Department of Labor is awarding a $3,058,366 National Emergency Grant increment for ongoing re-employment services to approximately 1,450 Texas workers impacted by the realignments and closures of military facilities.

Among the affected facilities are Fort Bliss in El Paso, Fort Hood in Kileen, the Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and the Red River Army Depot in Texarkana as well as multiple bases in San Antonio.

"Today's grant award will provide crucial job placement assistance, skills training and other re-employment services to help workers launch new careers," says Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis. "When base realignments and closures lead to job losses for those who support our military communities, it is our government's responsibility to assist these workers on their path toward new opportunities."
