A Colorado Republican lawmaker withdrew his own bill on retiree health care after public outcry that the measure would knock thousands of eligible Medicare recipients out of the program.
State Rep. Chris Holbert asked members of the House Finance Committee to quash House Bill 1250, an initiative aimed at members of the Public Employee Retirement Association.
The measure, penned by the conservative Independence Institute, was chastized by critics for shifting health care costs and, ultimately, pushing more retirees to enroll in Medicaid.
