Four days of activities aimed at advisors and plan sponsors – with the goal of better informing the public - are on the horizon as National Retirement Planning Week is set to take place April 9 to 13, organized by the National Retirement Planning Coalition.

The week, which includes webinars for advisors, a series of meetings on retirement trends and financial literacy, as well as the debut of a new set of FINRA-approved client retirement planning documents, is aimed at building better public awareness and participation in early, thorough retirement strategies.

Tuesday, April 10: Webinar for advisors featuring Chad Terry, director of investment and retirement education for BlackRock, speaking on Social Security's role in retirement strategies. 1:30 p.m. EDT; click here to get more information on participating.

Wednesday, April 11: Two meetings in Washington D.C.: The American Savings Education Council, discussing new retirement trends, research and planning tools, at 9 a.m. EDT at the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (registration required); and a financial literacy seminar hosted by the George Washington University School of Business and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, held at 2 p.m. EDT on the GWU campus (more details here).

Thursday, April 12: IRI and the NRPC will release a package of FINRA-reviewed client documents for financial advisors to help their clients.

The Coalition, which operates its own website, www.retireonyourterms.org, is made up of organizations including America Saves, American Council of Life Insurers, American Savings Education Council, Americans for Secure Retirement, Center for Retirement Research at Boston College, Consumer Federation of America, Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association, Employee Benefit Research Institute, Financial Services Institute, Financial Services Roundtable, Jump$tart Coalition, National Association for Fixed Annuities, NICSA, Retirement Income Industry Association, The American College, The Aspen Institute, and the Women's Institute for a Secure Retirement.
