Recent research from the Insured Retirement Institute shows that only 36 percent of Boomers and 35 percent of GenXers are confident they will have enough assets to live comfortably in retirement. To help educate consumers as part of National Retirement Planning Week, IRI has developed a set of consumer tips highlighting ways to ensure their retirement savings lasts through their lifetimes.
These tip sheets cover important issues like Social Security, Medicare, retirement savings plans and retirement income, as well as more in-depth topics such as partial 1035 exchanges and specific advice for middle-income Boomers.
"With 79 million Baby Boomers entering into retirement and 70 million GenXers following right behind them, retirement planning is a topic that needs to be on the forefront of Americans' minds," said IRI President and CEO Cathy Weatherford. "Unfortunately many consumers feel ill-prepared for retirement. But with proper planning and guidance from an advisor, financial security in retirement is achievable."
