The New York Life Foundation has awarded Outward Bound a $238,000 grant to support Heroic Journey, a program specifically designed for teens coping with the death of a loved one. This funding will support Heroic Journey programs this summer in Atlanta, Denver, Massachusetts, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Philadelphia.

Heroic Journey is a seven-day program that may involve canoeing, hiking or climbing. Program participation gives young people the opportunity to challenge themselves physically and mentally, practice coping skills, and build a network of friends who have had similar loss, decreasing their feelings of isolation.
