ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minn. Gov. Mark Dayton's administration says it picked a Virginia-based government services company for a $41 million contract to develop the online health insurance marketplace required by the federal health care overhaul.
Three of Dayton's top advisers announced the contract with Reston, Va.-based MAXIMUS Inc. on Monday.
The health insurance exchange website is expected to open for business in October 2013, serving as many as 1.2 million Minnesotans who will get either public health care coverage or subsidies to purchase private insurance. They will be able to compare plans before signing up online.

A statement says the Minnesota Department of Human Services will contribute $2.8 million from existing appropriations, while the federal government pays the rest.
Republican lawmakers have criticized Dayton's push forward with the exchange and stayed out of the planning.
