Florida jobless rate falls as workers drop out

State economists are not sure if the work force is shrinking due to the number of people retiring, but says the local economy could be aided by boomer transplants.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A new state report gives a murky outlook for Florida’s economy — noting that recovery could take years as the state pulls itself out of the Great Recession.

The report released Tuesday could also point to political reverberations for both President Barack Obama and Gov. Rick Scott whose fortunes appear to be linked to job growth. Florida is a key swing state that could help decide the 2012 presidential election.
